Pet Food News - Melamine Used to Thicken Pet Food Protein Plot

It just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the melamine scare began as a simple case of fraud. Binzhou Futian Biology Technology added melamine to wheat flour to make it appear to be higher in protein, then sold the resulting adulterated product as wheat gluten and rice protein.

Melamine is not a protein, but the nitrogen/oxygen groups that surround its central ring look vaguely protein-like, so a food inspector testing wheat flour laced with melamine will think it's really rice protein or wheat gluten. The Chinese have arrested a man named Tian Feng, a manager at Binzhou Futian, as the man responsible for all this. Tian himself claims he never even heard of melamine. He may be telling the truth. Just one month ago, we were convinced the culprit was Xuzhou Anying Biologic. Before that, the poison was aminopterin instead of melamine.

But we have moved from a problem with contamination to a case of fraud. Someone in China laced wheat flour with plastic so they could sell it as a vegetable protein, and they did it on a massive scale, because the stuff has been popping up all over the place. If it hadn't been for the fact that cats are unusually sensitive to melamine, we would never have known.

Scary stuff.

The Nitrogen added to the food starts an auto immune response be those consuming it. The result is sickness of all kinds......This has been a huge problem for cattle farmers and the chemists have tried to offset the high nitrogen negative results.

All processed food imports coming into the USA have to be stopped now! Why do you think your insurance premiums are going up....everyone is sick! Clearly we are fools for allowing the FDA any control over this situation. We should call for the disbanning of the FDA and elect a public group to take over all testing of foods and control over imports. The FDA has proved it is not worthy or capable in any matters related to food safety!
