Confused Americans for Truth - An Important Note About Senate Bill 330

by Ferdinand T Cat

Senate Bill 300 is titled To authorize secure borders and comprehensive immigration reform, and for other purposes, just in case you were wondering.

Here's the thing. President Bush claims this bill is not about amnesty. Instead, it defines a process for legalization.

Apparently, the reason we're so upset is the use of the word amnesty.

As a superior life form, I have a responsibility to insure that I am not being misled by a propagandistic use of words. Therefore, I went over to the Government Publication Database and reread the salient portions of the bill with this new understanding in mind.

I am sorry to report to you that reading the bill while thinking about legalization instead of amnesty did not change one single thing about the bill. There is still a guest worker program that allows current illegal immigrants to continue employment in renewable 2-year intervals so long as as they are willing to be fingerprinted and be enrolled in an approved assimilation program. I've tried reading this passage (section 302) several times, with Bruce reciting the word "legalization" in the background, and it still reads the same way.

So, based on this effort, I am forced to conclude that even if it is not an amnesty bill, it's still a bad idea. If the people who support this bill have any other argument for it other than the fact it's not amnesty, I'm listening, but until then I still vote NO.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat
