Force Football - Chicago Tonight Does a Segment on the Force
The Chicago Force was the subject of a 6-minute segment on Chicago Tonight. Chicago Tonight is on public television, a medium I've never really trusted, but Bruce insisted we watch it anyway.
The segment began with the usual Oh My Gawd It's Women Playing Real Football thing, but did have some good bits. Coach Jim Stahl talked about how the team's appeal was similar to minor league baseball: it's cheaper and friendlier. (Bruce and Nate can vouch for the friendlier part.) There was also considerable effort to communicate the fact that the Force plays hard. Linda Bache, Angie Bandstra, and Kimberly Marks all got face time. I wasn't mentioned at all, but I assume that's an oversight.
There were some problems watching the segment here at home. Bruce insisted on watching the whole show in real time. The Gremlin kept trying to fast-forward through the boring parts, Peg-Eye Nate developed a twitch every time the announcer gave out the web site address, and for an entire hour nobody went into the kitchen, which was pretty tough on me, and totally unfair.
Anyway, if you're interested, you can see the video below the fold.
Respectfully submitted,
