Confused Americans for Truth - London Bombing Theories

by Ferdinand T Cat

Two car bombs have been found in London. The first has been disarmed. The second has been towed to a safe place where it can be studied.

It is possible that this is a terrorist plot, either to test the new Brown government or as retaliation for Salman Rushdie's knighthood.

Due to the fact there was no loss of life, I predict none of the terror groups around the world will be anxious to claim credit. Indeed, the British police claim both bombs are of crude construction, which could be a sign they aren't terror-related, or that all the skilled bomb-makers are in Iraq trying to kill other Muslims.

There is, however, an interesting story from CBS news about a forum posting that appeared to predict the bombing. It is, of course, plausible that the people behind the bombing left the message as a sort of brag before the fact; however, in the weeks since the Rushdie knighthood threats against Britain have been numerous. Before we ask if the forum posting is from someone in a position to know, we should check to see how many times this guy has predicted bombings that haven't happened. It's like The Executive Game: in the advanced mode, there will almost always be someone considerably dumber than yourself who was right one of the times you were wrong. The truth is that the dumb guy was correct by accident, but that won't matter when he gets interviewed on CBS News. Similarly, though CBS is careful not to state outright that the forum poster knew anything, the kernel of truth in the story is no more amazing than the fact that every week or two someone successfully predicts the numbers drawn in the Powerball Lottery.

Just one more reason why these journalists should talk to me before they go ahead with a story.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat
