Under the Peg - Ain't Technology Grand?

by Peg-Eye Nate

When we saw the posters for the Transformers movie, Bruce expressed his concern that the movie would be just like the live-action Thunderbirds flick. I'm happy to announce the writers did not copy the plot for Transformers out of one of the Three Ninjas movies.

The plot centers around a teenage boy named Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf), whose grandfather was one of the first to explore the arctic circle. He goes from class to buy his first car with the help of his father (Kevin Dunn). The car turns out to be more than it appears.

While the plot is nice and detailed, and the characters all have their own depth and charm to them, the special effects are what stick out most in my mind. The attention to detail is astounding, and no expense is spared when it comes to collateral damage. Lots of damage, big explosions, and large high tech robots, need I say more?

Overview: Whee! Such Fun! Explody!
Score: 9.5 out of 10

I saw this movie the other night with my two nephews in a new theater with a huge digital screen. Though the special effects were outstanding (made even more so by the screen) what I especially liked about the movie was the humor.

I especially liked the Sam character, who was a nice mix of lovable loser and fast-talking con artist.
