Confused Americans for Truth - Clinton Plays the-Hurt Feelings Card
Senator Hillary Clinton, currently one of the leading contenders for the 2008 Democratic Presidential nomination. is upset with the Pentagon. Essentially, she asked the Pentagon for a copy of the plan to withdraw from Iraq. The Pentagon's reply to Senator Clinton's request is here. The offending passage, as reported by ABC News, is this:
Premature and public discussion of the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq reinforces enemy propaganda that the United States will abandon its allies.
Ms. Clinton was outraged, declaring
I deeply resent the administration's continuing effort to impugn the patriotism of those of us who are asking hard questions.
Here's my problem. As I have pointed out, patriotism is an emotional state. Ms. Clinton's emotional state is not relevant to the situation in Iraq. What is relevant is the perceptions of the terrorists and the people of Iraq as to whether they can count on the United States to stand by them against the terrorists. This is the issue addressed by the Pentagon response.
There is a possible explanation for the Senator's confusion on this matter. A long time ago, people thought that women were ruled by their emotions and men were ruled by logic. Perhaps Mrs. Clinton believes that people will appreciate her more if she portrays herself as a weak, emotional woman being victimized by inconsiderate louts in the Defense Department.
If this is indeed her goal, then she's making a huge mistake. Modern men don't want a weak, helpless woman; they want a hard-headed, kick-ass type like The Girl Who Feeds Me. In fact, if Hillary had any sense, she'd hire The Girl as an adviser. If a vote for Hillary meant The Girl would be running the country, I'd vote for her in a second. I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way.
It would, after all, be the logical thing to do.
Respectfully submitted,

I hadn't thought of that. Maybe Senator Clinton *is* trying to to the 'emotional woman' act. My memory isn't that good on the point: is she the same candidate who claimed to be attacked during a debate?

I think that it is also important to note that there is nothing in the Pentagon reply that even remotely questions her patriotism.

Yeah, but remember, Avacado... if she keeps claiming they are questioning her patriotism, everyone will eventually believe they are questioning her patriotism. Of course, neither she nor any other Democrat gives to flying monkeys about "patriotism", but that certainly will not stop her from using it to her advantage.
I would almost argue that her emotional state is even more important now, since she stands a good chance of being the next occupant of the White House. Only, with her, the problem is not who she will push the button on next, but who she will sell out to next to try and avoid hurting their feelings...
