Under the Peg - Die Hard Fans Welcome!

by Peg-Eye Nate

The first thing I noticed when I saw the posters for the new Die Hard movie, was the rating. The first three movies were rated R, and the new film's PG-13 rating set off alarms in my head. As such, I've been putting off seeing it in theaters for as long as possible. I was worried the producers had cut down the violence, toned down the explosions, or, horror of horrors, taken out McClain's (Bruce Willis's) catch phrase. As it turns out...

I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG!!!!

The violence, explosions, and gratuitous damage that seasoned the first three are present in the fourth and then some. The action is all but non-stop, the body count is comfortably high, and McClane's catch phrase shines through in all its glory. Viewer's will notice the bodies in this one are more crunch than splat, as they have been in previous Die Hards (probably what they took out to earn PG-13).

The plot pits McClane against a hacker bent on taking down every system in the country. McClain is instructed to bring another hacker named Matthew Farrell, (Justin Long) who has recently been targeted for assassination by a mysterious group of well-armed men. This results in another typical holiday for McClane.

Overview: Definitely gonna buy the DVD for this one!
Score: 9.5 pegs out of 10
