Force Football - The Demolition Won, but the Party Afterward Was Still Fun

by Ferdinand T Cat

The Force's final game of the season was against their arch-rivals the Detroit Demolition, the only team that's been able to beat them this year. The Demolition's success rate really bugs Peg-Eye Nate, who says the their uniforms are a "hideous orange color that even my Dad would refuse to wear", and so the rules of good taste require a Force win when the two teams play.

Speaking of clothing, I should point out to those of you who met Bruce at yesterday's game that the problem is not the fact he wears a sweater in 80-degree weather, but that he doesn't understand why it's a bad idea.

Anyway, for the first half the teams fought each other to a standstill. A fairly large crowd was present at the game, and the cheering was loud and intense. On two occasions, rookie running back Esther Henigan was injured. The second time, she limped off the field and was taken out of the game. In a strange way, that was the turning point. The Demolition went on to score three touchdowns. The Force scored once, on a pass to Wide Receiver Diane Didier that she ran into the end zone.

There were a lot of penalties, most of them false starts and offsides. On one occasion, four players on the Demolition defensive line started forward before the Force snapped the ball. It was that intense.

Afterward there was a party on the top floor at Hamburger Mary's. The parties are sponsored by Miller Lite, and several cases of Miller Lite beer are raffled off each time. In addition, you can pay $10 at the door for all the Miller Lite you can drink. They do this after every home game, and I pointed out to Bruce that if he had told this to me earlier I could have mentioned it and maybe it would draw more people to the games! I love the man, but he is definitely not a superior life form.

In any case, the regular season for the Independent Women's Football League is over, and the Demolition will go on to the playoffs. This means that instead of getting all excited every Saturday Bruce and Nate will go back to moping around the house and complaining about politics. I will, of course, keep my ear to the ground and report any off-season news about the team that I can find.

In the meantime, Bruce likes to cook when he's depressed, and I know all sorts of recipes involving mozzarella cheese. If I manage this off-season correctly I think I can see a serious bright side.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat

Ferdinand-

Did Bruce & Nate tell you about the dog & parrot at the game? I saw at least 1 Yorkie & a green parrot perched atop the groundskeeper's shoulder. Not sure how either snuck in, but they were there...I think this means you have to come out next season. It is an event that you would never forget. Thanks for being a fan.
