Under the Peg - A Simple, Shining Dish
Though the movie is billed as a child's film, and it does possess the necessary charm and simplicity to appeal to children, it also has a level of wit and depth that adults will appreciate. The film is rated G, but has the word 'Hell' at least once, and has two scenes involving gunfire. The animation gives it an almost painted feel at times, producing a quaint feeling. The credits include a stamp that certifies the film as 100% animated: no motion capture or other shortcuts were used in the making of this movie. The film in question is Pixar's Ratatouille.
Ratatoullie. The story is narrated (something I fully and completely recommend as a traditionalist) by the Main Character, Remy (Patton Oswalt). Remy was blessed with very acute senses of smell and taste, allowing him to immediately identify what ingredients are in any particular food. This elevates him to the rank of Poison Checker in his colony, but he wants to cook. His inspiration comes to him from the human character Gusteau (Brad Garrett), the youngest five star chef in Paris, and someone who believes anyone can cook. The film is about daring to be different, taking a risk to try something new, to do what no one else has dreamed of doing, and not giving up until you've won. It's a good choice for an Independence Day movie.Overall: My compliments to the Writers, an utter masterpiece.
Score: 9.5 pegs out of 10.
