Notes from Ferdy - A Very Serious Case of Bad Taste
I think of myself as a fairly tolerant cat, but there are some things that simply cannot be allowed in a civilized society.
I am, of course, talking about fat-free mozzarella cheese.
If you are going to make a hideously unnatural food product, you have an obligation to inform the public by packaging it in a distinct manner. Otherwise, when a customer sends a teenage girl out to buy cheese she may accidentally pick up one of these fat-free packages thinking it's the real thing. The results from that simple mistake can be catastrophic.
You will notice that Sargento's, my favorite cheese company, does not make a fat-free cheese, only a reduced-fat cheese. This means that if you buy Sargento's, you don't have to worry about some fat-free abomination sneaking into your cheese supply. Unfortunately, not all grocery stores carry the Sargento's brand. Something needs to be done about that.
I try to be optimistic about the future of our civilization but if this kind of thing keeps happening I'm going to have to revise my opinion.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat

You'll certainly be in my prayers as you try to cope with this traumatic situation. I know it's difficult to keep hope alive at times like this, but as long as we have cats like you, I feel confident we'll get through somehow and western civilization will not fall.

Ugh. I refuse to buy anything other than that which is called "cheese". No "cheese product" or "cheese facsimile" or whatever they call the stuff that's 50% oil. Give me clotted dairy or give me death!

I know what you're going through. I had some fat free Feta cheese the other night. It was God awful, like soggy cardboard with salt.

The fat free cheese is a bigger rip off than the fresh meats 'enhanced' with the addition of up to 20% salt water. Remember when it was illegal to color margarine to look like butter? What do you suppose fat free cheese would look like without coloring and shaping?
