Adventures with Bruce - The Local Sonic the Hedgehog

At the local Gameworks, you can schedule a birthday party and have Sonic the Hedgehog show up for photos and fun with the children. Bruce got to watch this particular Sonic in action today and reports that he shows a special talent for working with children. One possible explanation would be that this is not a real hedgehog, but in fact Bruce's daughter Barb wearing a giant foam costume; however, the Sega company (which owns both Gameworks and Sonic) was not available to confirm or deny that particular hypothesis.

In any case, if you are throwing a birthday party for a child in the Schaumburg area, schedule it at Gameworks and ask for Sonic. After the party, be sure to give Sonic lots of discount coupons for Sargento's mozzarella cheese. I'm sure it's in one of the games that it's good luck to give cheese coupons to Sonic. If it's not, it should be.

Yay! More Sonic! You've just earned my permanent loyalty.

While I'd love to have Sonic at my birthday party, I don't think I live anywhere near Schaumburg or even a Gameworks. Plus, while I'm sure he doesn't mind cheese, I'm pretty sure he likes chili dogs better.

As to whether or not that is the real Sonic, the real Sonic is 3'3" tall and weighs about 77 lbs. If this Sonic doesn't meet those specifications, then I would say that this is a look-alike.

Perri: cats believe that a certain cat-ness is important in the appearance of anything you want to look attractive. Maybe Sega has a cat on its staff.

As a matter of fact, there are two different cat characters in the Sonic franchise, Big the Cat and Blaze the Cat. As I stated in one of my comments for "A Sonic Problem", Big the Cat was not very popular and hasn't appeared in a game recently. Blaze the Cat, on the other hand, is very popular, and her most recent appearance was in "Sonic and the Secret Rings" for the Nintendo Wii and is also set to appear in the upcoming "Sonic Rush Adventure" for Nintendo DS. So I'm sure Sega does have a certain appreciation for cat-ness.
