Catblogging - Waiting for Cheese

This is an excellent example of how a small change can have big consequences. I spent years training Bruce to give me a cheese snack every time I sat on this bar stool. Part of the reason it works is that this is where he used to sit when he was cooking.
A few weeks ago, there was a reassignment of chores, and Bruce is now in charge of washing the dishes. So, when he's cooking, instead of sitting and reading a book, he catches up on the dirty dishes. Since he no longer uses the bar stool, it got moved to a different room.
So here I am, patiently waiting for a cheese snack in the front hall. If someone comes up and rings the door bell, Bruce will see me on his way to the door and the training will take over. Unfortunately, with The Gremlin in North Dakota for a year, the number of people ringing the doorbell has shrunk to almost zero.
People say that cats are hard to train, but humans are much worse. It's going to take me at least six months to train Bruce to recognize a new signal. I'm thinking of biting his foot, because I don't have to worry about his foot being moved to a different room. It's well-known that you're not supposed to bite the hand that feeds you, but there isn't a similar provision for biting feet, so it should be safe.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat

Dang, Bruce, get that cat some cheese already. It's been 4 days since Ferdy has opined on anything and I'm getting the shakes.

hahahaha. Don't count on the not biting the hand thing. I have a bird that bites our hands WHILE we are trying to feed him. We still feed him! I don't know why. I've thought of frying him up more than once :)
