Adventures with Bruce - Water is Really Dangerous Stuff
The most amazing thing about the basement now that the water's been pumped out is that almost everything has moved. Boxes tipped over, floated to other parts of the room, knocked into each other, and so forth.
Water is a powerful force. One could argue that the millions of chemical reactions that we call life are only possible because so much of our planet is covered by this relentless, highly reactive solvent.
I respect it, I really do, and I appreciate its importance, but I would be a lot happier if it waited for my permission before invading my space.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat

Hi Ferdy and Bruce,
Did you have a flood? Hmm. Where abouts do you live? What state, I mean. I don't remember reading about this.
How is everything now? Are you all caught up on the clean-up? I hope so. Have a very nice day. :)

We're in the Chicago area. We had a storm that was well short of a hurricane, but there were a lot of tree limbs flying around, and this led to a loss of power and some flooding. I spent a lot of the time outside the door to the basement, ready to attack any of the water that attempted to climb up to the ground floor. Needless to say, the water was unnerved by my vigilance and didn't get past the first few steps of the staircase. Sadly, this was enough to do serious damage to some appliances, and we're going to be seeing a lot of repairmen this week.
