Be forewarned: It is not a pleasant process.

Yes, I'm used to the process being utterly painless, and this has been a notable exception.
Also, the back end now looks like Wordpress. Ferdy is very unhappy about this: he thinks ergonomic designs are insulting.

Okay, this is a typekey comment.

Personally, it took me the better part of two days to figure out the upgrade and make it work properly. I was quite unamused, and even less impressed. And this is after one of the earlier versions went completely FUBAR.
That said, how on God's Green Earth (TM) did you get comment registration to work?

First I had to turn everything on and do the handshaking. That was the easy part.
I have an experimental blog called The Backping Blog that I use to test stuff. I deleted and recreated the entire blog so that it exclusively used the native MT 4 templates. I then copied the comment form and javascript templates exactly from the Backping Blog. I was lucky because all the Conservative Cat Empire blogs already used a template module for the comment form, enabling me to drop in the new template with little effort.
The Javascript was harder. The cut and paste kept reflowing the javascript code, causing unterminated string errors. I used the Firefox Javascript console to find each error and fix it.
The final step is to insure that the BODY element of the individual archive template calls the Javascript onLoadIndividualArchive method. This is the thing that shows and hides the various versions of the comment form.
It was a long night.

On second thought, I may be just as happy with the basic comments I have now... Oy.
