Laura Ingraham - Mike Gravel Uses Dragon Logic

by Ferdinand T Cat

Today on the Laura Ingraham show, she played a clip of Democratic Presidential hopeful Mike Gravel answering a question about his personal bankruptcy. You can see the video here.

The question dealt with Gravel's two bankruptcies and what they said about his ability to manage a whole country. The key point in the answer was Gravel's assertion that the second time he went bankrupt, he was only hurting the credit card companies, who deserved it. This is highly reminiscent of an argument made by Temeraire the dragon in the book Black Powder War: it's okay to steal from people you don't like. Of course, Temeraire is a young dragon trying to learn how human society works, so he has an excuse. Gravel wants to be the Chief Executive of the United States of America, and it would be a very bad thing for a Chief Executive to think it's okay to steal from people you don't like. Richard Nixon had a list of people he didn't like who were singled out for special treatment, and most people agree that was a bad thing.

If Gravel were really concerned about credit card company practices, he could agitate for credit card reform. This would benefit everybody. Declaring bankruptcy to screw your creditors is an awfully selfish act for someone who claims to care about the common man.

But I'm being unfair. Chances are that Gravel went bankrupt because he didn't know what he was doing, and screwing the credit card companies was simply a rationalization for his own failure. A similar thing happens whenever Hillary Clinton has to explain why she voted to invade Iraq.

See. rather than facing up to their mistakes, these Democratic candidates are trying to hide under a cloud of verbiage. In other words, they are not being held accountable.

This is a serious problem, and there's only one solution: get Nancy Pelosi on the job. Nancy believes very strongly in accountability.

The poor woman has been having a very hard time of it, and this could be just the thing she needs to make her job a fun thing again.

Respectfully submitted,
