Under the Peg - Some Things Never Change
When Resident Evil Extinction starts, you may get the impression you've walked into the wrong theater. Don't panic! It's just the writer's subtle way of breaking you into the latest plot by the evil Umbrella Corporation. I don't want to spoil the surprise, but I will say it leaves the Scumbaggery of their normal plots in the dust and makes a sharp hairpin turn into the realm of Heresy. We learn early on that Umbrella's goal is not to eliminate the T-Virus, but to find a way to tame its victims to create a docile work force. This wouldn't be too much of a problem if it weren't for the tiny inconvenient fact that the T-Virus found a way out of Raccoon City and has succeeded in wiping out most life on earth. It's been six years since the Raccoon City incident, and only a handful of living human beings remain.
The third movie in the Resident Evil series is a bit of a return to its horror genre roots. There are several scenes that exist solely to make you jump out of your skin. A couple of the death scenes are a little on the extreme side, so don't go if you're squeamish. I will admit, I'm somewhat upset at them for not bringing back Angie or Jill from the second movie, but the rest of the supporting cast does a good job of filling their own respective roles.
Overview: It's Milla Jovovitch shooting and slashing her way through hundreds of bad guys. What more could you want?
Score: 9 pegs out of 10
Side Note: I would like to personally thank the makers of this film for remembering Madness Day by setting the bulk of the movie Somewhere in Nevada.
