Confused Americans for Truth - The Partitioning Solution

by Ferdinand T Cat

Iraqi prime minister Nouri al-Maliki is upset with a U.S. Senate proposal to partition Iraq along ethnic lines. I can understand his reasons, since the last attempt to split up the United States resulted in a very bloody war. There's also the unstable relationship between India and Pakistan. Still, the non-binding Senate resolution says more about how Democrats think than it does about the situation on the ground in Baghdad.

The problem, in the Democrat view of things, is that people are organized into groups along ethnic and religious lines. This is why immigration reform opponents were accused of racism and Hillary pretended to be African-American while visiting Selma, Alabama.

This sad state of affairs exists because all humans secretly yearn for a magic method to separate good guys from bad guys. Ethnic differences are easy to spot, so they make good candidates for this particular magic trick. Why spend a lot of time trying to find out the exact person who blew up your Shi'a mosque when it's easier to blame all the Sunnis?

The Kurds practically have their own country already, but the Sunnis and the Shi'as have to share the same oil reserves. The current situation is nothing compared to the war that would break out over who gets the southern oil fields. Ethnic grudges last a long time in the Middle East. After all, the Palestinians are still upset about the Israeli War of Independence in 1948.

What we need instead is a solution where people are judged as individuals rather than members of a group. I know that may seem a crazy idea to some of you, but cats do it all the time and the average cat is much happier than the average human. More important, if we can't get the Shi'as and Sunnis to accept each other, the Israelis and the Palestinians are doomed.

It would be easy to say that the Democrats are racist because this resolution proves they think that Arabs are too backward to live together in harmony. The truth, however, is that the Democrats think you and I are just as backward as the Arabs. It's a sort of equal-opportunity snobbery.

In the meantime, I'm going to continue to agitate for this treat-people-as-individuals thing. I'm not denying that racism exists, I'm simple asserting that it's unacceptable. I don't think I'm asking for too much.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat
