Adventures with Bruce - Wer're Back, but There are Still Som Problems
A few weeks ago the Apple Software Update service attempted to install a new version of iTunes on Bruce's laptop. iTunes is a critical application for us because it's how we listen to the Laura Ingraham Show. The installation failed, and Bruce was never able to get it fixed. Worse, other automatic update programs began failing, and it was not uncommon to click on a desktop icon and get a cryptic message about the program not being installed.
So, last Thursday, Bruce decided to wipe his hard drive and start over. He backed everything up before proceeding, of course, but in the middle of the process the backup drive stopped working. We've lost a bunch of EMAIL, and some video files, but all the pictures of me were saved, which is the important thing. There were also some external events that delayed the process. On Tuesday the power went out again (though not for very long), and yesterday Peg-Eye Nate got a flat tire and Bruce had to go rescue him. It's this sort of thing that leads many people to believe that Bruce is cursed in some way. (The most often cited example of this is the infamous tongue incident).
Anyway, Bruce is able to work again, which is a very high priority for all of us who live here, but he is still not fully recovered. In particular, where he even thinks about installing iTunes he begins shaking uncontrollably and has to lie down.
I'm working on it.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat
