The Cat's Meow - 01/08/08: Memetics

by Ferdinand T Cat
Killing a man does not destroy an idea.

This is, of course, why the War on Terror, like the Cold War of the last century, is so hard to win.

Conservatives like to compare radical Islam to fascism, mistakenly thinking that this will wake up our opponents on the left to the very real danger we face. After all, liberals find fascism all over the place and there's no doubt that they think it's a bad thing. This strategy, however, is doomed to failure because it ignores fascism's most appealing trait: it focuses power on a single individual. Kill the fascist and you kill fascism. This is why Bill Clinton is so sensitive about the idea he let Osama get away and Democrats are so upset that bin Laden remains at large. If we could just take out that one man, maybe this whole thing will go away.

Face it, folks: if killing the man worked, neither Christianity nor Islam would still be around. Like the communist state, the Islamic Republic is ruled by a committee. If you take out the leader, there's another one right there to take his place. In fact, there's a good chance the other guy would throw you a party as a reward for helping him earn his promotion.

So, as was the case in the last war, this war will need to be fought by the conservative movement without any liberal help. Yes, everything about radical Islam, from their treatment of women to their hatred of Jews, is utterly repugnant to the people on the other side of the aisle. But the primary rule of liberal foreign policy is that you kill tyrants and you negotiate with committees. The fact that the committee is populated by homicidal lunatics is not important.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat

Why do I suggest that people of other faiths bother with what appears to be Christian problem? Because if the USA government, which was created upon Judeo-Christian principles, can eliminate God-given rights for us, then they can take away your right... [Read More]

True, but it's even worse than you paint it. The faux liberals of the left are so sold on the multiculti thing that they refuse to see that the "radicals" in Islam are simply... honest Muslims who are devoted followers of The Butcher of Medina, whose example of mass murder, rape, slavery, etc., they are simply and honestly following.
