Catblogging - Boots, Episode 5: The Homecoming
The pet shelter was closed for the holidays, but yesterday it was open again and Bruce was able to take Boots and Lucky home.
Bruce had wanted to adopt both cats ever since he took this picture, but Barb Gigamaster and Maggie felt that was a bit too much. The shelter's manager, however, was worried about splitting the two of them up. It turns out that they were rescued from a burning building. Lucky was in the lead, which is why the firefighters on the scene gave him that name. With this story to back him up, Bruce was able to override the girls and get both cats.
Boots and Lucky spent their first day in their new home chasing each other, wrestling, playing with string, and getting copious amounts of affection. Bruce told me it's especially fun to have normal cats in the home again, which earned him a major dirty look from me.
There are, however, some glitches. Lucky has the sniffles and needs to take two pills a day. When you take his pills out, he actually starts purring. This is not normal. Late in the afternoon, Bruce gave each of the kittens a small bowl of cat food, and Lucky inhaled the contents of both bowls while Boots was still sniffing around to see if the room was safe. For his own sake, I hope he doesn't try that same trick with me.
In any case, the important thing is that after nearly three weeks of paperwork and processing, we have new cats in the house. Bruce is happy and The Girl is happy, and these are good things.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat

I'm glad that Bruce took both Boots and Lucky, and I'm sure you'll whip them into line without any difficulty. You can always train them to devil The Interloper.

This is a very good thing. I'm so happy for the kittens and you. This is how we got our babies, only we did not have to go through the paperwork. One was thrown out of a car window going down the highway, and a friend rescued him over my home. How could I say no? He needed a splint on his front paw, so I made one. Worked pretty good, too!
I wish you much happiness and Happy New Year. ;)

Thanks. And I should say, I am very proud of Ferdy. While he felt it necessary to give Boots and Lucky two strong lectures on Thursday, he has not been at all hostile toward the newcomers since then, and allows Lucky and Boots to invade his personal space without comment. He is truly a superior life form.
