Catblogging - Contract Problems

A no-kill pet shelter takes its responsibility very seriously, and if you take home one of their residents, you have to sign a contract.
Now, it is fairly obvious that Bruce would rather shoot himself in the foot than harm a cat, but you can't formalize that sort of thing in a legal contract, so instead there are rules. You can't take the cat outside without supervision, you can't sell or give the cat away, and you can't ever remove the collar. This last is to keep the cat safe if he manages to escape on one of his supervised excursions in the great outdoors.
The shelter made one mistake. Bruce cheerfully agreed to these terms, but the shelter didn't get Boots to sign, and therein lies the problem, because Boots is a superior life form, and he's figured out how to slip out of the collar. Here you can see him clowning around while Bruce desperately searches the house to find where Boots stashed the stupid thing.
Anyway, if you decide to adopt a cat from a pet shelter, be sure the cat understands all the terms of the contract and agrees to abide by the terms. Otherwise, you're just asking for trouble.
Respectfully submitted,
