Confused Americans for Truth - Nothing Certain, but I Want to Celebrate Anyway
In the twisted, uncertain world of the Presidential primaries, every news item is suspect. With roughly a third of the votes tallied, the press has awarded the Michigan primary to Mitt Romney and Hillary Clinton. (You'll have to read through to paragraph 6 to learn that Senator Clinton didn't have any opponents, but that's just a detail.)
Despite a suspicion that the Michigan primary isn't over yet, I'm accepting this as good news. I find it a bit disturbing, however, that the delegate count page on the Fox News web site has disappeared. Originally, the page had a completely different delegate count than The Green Papers page, then it had two completely different delegate counts, and now it's completely gone. This is why I'm doing the suspicion thing.
There are three more contests between now and February 5. The important of February 5 is that you need special permission to select delegates before that date. (You can tell that a lot of states understand this, because almost half the delegates go up for grabs on that date.) The next stop on the nomination trail is South Carolina, which has a primary on Saturday, January 19. Ten days after that (January 29) is the Florida primary, and then Maine has caucuses during the weekend of February 1-3.
By that time, I hope to have a firm handle on what actually happened today in Michigan.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat
