Confused Americans for Truth - Pay Attention to the Unconscious Cat
![]()
As a favor for those of you who are depressed about the Republican Presidential field, I've attached a picture of Boots, the world's silliest cat.
McCain won South Carolina. Thanks to a victory in Nevada, however, Romney still leads in the delegate count. This is why Boots is not worried.
Now, there is no question that Romney has a checkered past. Nonetheless, he is campaigning directly to conservatives. For this reason, I believe that once he gets into the White House, we can use our influence to keep him on message.
That's not the case with McCain, who is all about bipartisanship. On everything except the Iraq war, he has a history of cooperating with Democrats. In that respect, he's a lot like George W. Bush There's real irony there. Although the official story of the campaign is that Republicans want to distance themselves from Bush, the truth is that McCain is the most Bush-like guy of the bunch. The only thing that separates McCain and Bush is the fact that they hate each other.
Hate is very important on the other side of the aisle. For example, Barack Obama is in trouble for not hating Ronald Reagan enough.
And ultimately, that's why I'm not going to tell Boots that it's time to wake up and start worrying. We're about issues and they're about emotions. Emotions sell well and they make great news stories, but they are insubstantial things that flip-flop with every change of the wind. If you want to build policy that lasts, you need issues.
The candidate I'm backing is the one who's all business. I have a lot of reservations about him, but when the chips are down, he's the most likely to make the rational choice. It helps me sleep at night.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat

I hope you are right. But the liberals in the Republican party are having a field day, complaining how conservatives are destroying the party.
I just don't get it. Everytime a Republican doesn't act like a conservative, they loose.
The first Bush, Bob Dole, 2006 Congress, the revolt against Bush on immigration.
