Catblogging - Problems With Newly Adopted Kittens

by Ferdinand T Cat

Boots and Lucky in a chair
Here you see Boots and Lucky sleeping together in The Girl's favorite chair. (For those new to the Boots and Lucky saga, Lucky is the orange one.) They are very happy in their new home, but there are a few glitches.

First, now that I'm the senior feline, it's necessary for me to maintain a certain amount of dignity. I don't mind Lucky's desire to hang out with me, but cuddling of the sort shown in the photo here is out of the question. When I move to another place, I'm doing it because I want to be alone, not because I think it's fun to nap in a different place every two minutes.

There is also an important point to be made about food. I know kittens burn a lot of energy, but Boots must learn a little appetite control. He does not need to run into the kitchen and start yowling every time one of the humans ventures within 10 feet of the refrigerator. Some of us want to sleep.

Anyway, if you're thinking of adding a kitten to a household that already has a cat, consider informing them of these basic principles before you bring the little one home from the shelter, and you can spare your senior felines some unnecessary stress. I may be a superior life form, but I have limits.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat
