Confused Americans for Truth - The New McCain Isn't Even Electable
You can take all the polls you want, but John McCain cannot win against Hillary Clinton.
See, this might have been possible once, but the new McCain we've been seeing since Florida is running as a conservative, and this is a problem, because as a conservative, he would be running against his own record. A guy named Dan makes this case in detail in a comment to a previous article, as does The Club for Growth, but what I remember is Bruce's employer going bankrupt while a certain senator from Arizona was saying that campaign finance reform was more important than cutting taxes.
We have an excellent case study of what happens when you run against your own record: the 1992 election, in which the first President Bush was defeated by a Democrat who-- by an amazing coincidence-- was also named Clinton.
While I disagreed with McCain the moderate, McCain the conservative is downright terrifying. The last thing we need is for someone to get into the White House, implement liberal policies, and then have the failed results held up as proof that conservatism doesn't work!
I'm not just blowing smoke here. The McCain-Feingold campaign finance law (note the name) has been in effect since 2003, but campaigns are still rancorous and money is still pouring in. This does not look good on the resume.
I know it may seem that I'm spending a lot of time on John McCain, but I feel that it's important to evaluate each new version of John McCain on his own merits, no matter how many of them emerge over the course of this election. That, however, is for the future. For the here and now, my conclusion is that this new McCain is a worse choice for the nomination than the previous one.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat

I didn't like the old one, and I certainly do NOT like this lying one. Sure do wish he'd stop hiding behind his service. We know, we know, he was a POW...decades ago. What has he done lately? Then there's the list of every liberal thing he did. You don't get a pass in my book, but you do a thank you. I really don't know what I'm going to do...

Interesting that this page shows me a "McCain For President" banner....

Yes, it's very annoying. Apparently, the words I use frequently match the ones the McCain organization has chosen for its Google Adsense campaign.

McCain's positions are like his personality: constructs designed to enhance his bid for power and position, nothing genuine about any of it. I doubt very much whether even John McCain knows who he is any more. One thing's for sure: I do not like any of the John McCains I have seen over the past 25 years. His arrogance and serial lies turned me off long before his attacks on fundamental rights (the First Amendment, for example) and his lying efforts to cede our borders to an alien invasion.
I cannot imagine any circumstance where John McCain got my vote. Were he running against Satan, at least I'd have a known and _competent_ evil to vote for rather than one that simply labels (via his sneering denials of fact) anyone who disagrees with him as an idiot, liar or fool. At least Satan would be a fairly competent evil, as opposed to a bumbling, arrogant, lying politician *spit* like McCain.
