Confused Americans for Truth - The Press versus the Truth in the Nomination Process

by Ferdinand T Cat

Mitt Romney claims he's not giving up. This is a good thing, because right now he has the most delegates: 21 to Huckabee's 14 and McCain's 12.

Nonetheless, Romney's strategy for this campaign is a failure. He spent lavishly in Iowa and New Hampshire hoping that early wins would give him momentum going into the rest of the campaign. The problem is that you can no longer buy an election.

Mainstream news organizations rely on advertising for revenue. As a result, it would be too painful for them to admit that advertising doesn't work. Instead, over the next few days, they'll be writing lots of articles about what the candidates need to do to win and what they've already done wrong. The analysis will be based on pure speculation rather than actual research. Normally this would annoy me, but the opinion polls in New Hampshire were wrong, so actual research in this case would be just as bogus as the speculation. As a practicing skeptic, it's very painful for me to admit that. It is, however, the absolute truth.

In the meantime, I'm going to keep checking this page to track the real story.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat

Sorry. That's an ad provided by Google, and apparently the site in question went out of business or moved while their ad campaign was still in progress.

So, you're too good to go to Church?

Many people fall into the trap of, "I cannot go to that Church. There are too many hypocrites in there!" Yes, even I have been there and done that. Ya know what found out? There was just one less hypocrite in the Church! ...

PS. I'm having a very hard time trackbacking, so I hope you don't mind if I leave it here. ;)

PSS. If there is anymore analysis on this election, I am relieved that I don't have to watch. I started to say I would scream, but then I remembered I don't to! Oh, such freedom!

Interesting post. After Sen. Clinton’s victory, many people are questioning the pollsters. There is so much to consider when exploring what goes into political polling. Predicting elections is one of the most difficult challenges in survey work. Generally speaking, election surveys actually do work fairly well (it's worth remembering that the polling on the Republican side in New Hampshire was pretty accurate). For all their flaws, surveys are still one of the best available tools for figuring out what the public wants. Check out our blog to see our take at Public Agenda (http://publicagenda.org/headlines/headlines_blog.cfm).
