Confused Americans for Truth - Hillary Clinton's Feelings Make Me Want to Cry

by Ferdinand T Cat

Last night, Hillary Clinton played the crying card again. It was not quite the same as the big cry before New Hampshire. This time, we have only Hillary's word that tears were forming. More importantly, these more recent tears are, in fact, not the tears of a woman, but the tears of a liberal.

Feelings are critical in any attempt to obtain liberal credentials. After all, the defining myth of conservatives is that we are heartless. Yet in the public mind, the ultra-liberal Hillary Clinton is heartlessness incarnate, a woman who would do anything to win and garnish your wages if you don't subscribe to her health-care plan.

Barack Obama, on the other hand, is all smiles and confidence, which is why 46% of Democrats in the poll rated him the "most positive" (compared to 39% for Clinton). Those same Democrats, however, by a 59% to 24% margin, rated Clinton as the "most prepared to begin leading the country from day one".

Right there you have the Democrat race in a nutshell: to be a good liberal, you have to have compassion (Obama), but to be a good leader, you need the hard stuff (Clinton). True to her do-anything reputation, Hillary is making one final stab at having it both ways.

What the country really needs is someone who can be positive and has the ability to lead. The conservative yearning for a return to the days of Ronald Reagan is precisely a yearning for that combination. Bush the first could lead, but wasn't positive. Bush the second is positive, but can't lead. McCain and Romney are both selling themselves as leaders, while Huckabee is trying to combine religious orthodoxy with a sense of fun. (I don't think that one's working.)

The combination of leadership and hope is something liberalism cannot provide over the long term because liberalism is about taking from one group and giving to others. When the giving fails, it eventually becomes necessary to demonize the people you're raiding for funds. John McCain does this all the time, which is why those of us who live and breathe conservative politics think he's a phony.

So, what's the bottom line? The real difference between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton is whether or not you and I will be able to wait for a bit before we paint the big red bullseye on our collective rear end.

Hillary's tears won't change that at all.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat
