Confused Americans for Truth - I Have an Issue with McCain's Personality
While trolling the web for analysis of the Republican party's current situation, Bruce found this article by movie critic and talk radio host Michael Medved.
Mr. Medved argues that political parties are best served by a nomination process that revolves around personalities instead of issues. He uses several examples to prove his point, but there is a certain common sense to the premise: if the candidates have similar opinions on the major issues, it is much easier to unite the party behind the eventual nominee. This is why, for example, in 1980-- when the two leading Republican candidates offered radically different economic plans-- Democrat Jimmy Carter coasted to an easy victory.
Having proved his hypothesis about issues and personalities, Mr. Medved offers hope for a Republican victory in the fall because the current crop of Republican candidates are in fact identical on the issues and differ only in personality. For example, both John McCain and Mitt Romney want strong border enforcement. The fact that Senator McCain will abandon this commitment as soon as he enters the White House can be seen as a difference in personality.
Anyway, I understand that many of you are upset by Senator McCain's string of primary victories, but I hope that this new information enables you to see them in the proper light.
Respectfully submitted,
Ferdinand T. Cat

Huh? I thought Ronald Reagan won in 1980. Oh, I get it! You were being sarcastic!
