Laura Ingraham - Obama Transcendant

by Ferdinand T Cat

Today on her show, Laura Ingraham discussed the various signs of Obama worship in the journalistic community. One quote, from a New York Times article by Adam Nagourney, particularly grabbed my attention.

Should Mr. Obama win the nomination, his candidacy could well be a test of whether [aggressive] tactics still work or whether, used against a candidate who is trying to cultivate an appeal that transcends policy specifics, [they] would fall flat this time.

By categorizing Obama's appeal as something that "transcends policy", Mr. Nagourney has admitted that Obama is running as an inspiring black guy instead of somebody with a plan to make the country better. This is not news to me; however, what's amazing is that this is being portrayed as an asset.

Mr. Obama’s record is not as long as Mrs. Clinton’s, or as potentially rich, for an opponent looking for damaging votes or quotes. But there is still plenty to work with. Some cases are simple let’s-go-to-the-video moments, like Mr. Obama’s statements that he would support giving drivers’ licenses to illegal aliens or would support raising taxes to shore up Social Security, lines of attacks that Republicans are already employing.

There's nothing unexpected here. Liberalism seeks to put enormous power in the hands of the government, and for that power to work for the common good, the correct people have to be wielding it. For this reason, the liberal solution to corruption in high places is to apply more controls to the way you and I influence elections. The conservative solution is apply more controls to the way the government can screw up our lives.

And now we have Obama. Because he transcends policy, you can only criticize him as a man, not as a candidate, and criticizing the man is dirty politics. It's politics devoid of rational thought, and people are swallowing it and begging for more.

This is not a good thing.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat
