Confused Americans for Truth - McCain Pulls off Huge Media Coup
Apparently, candidate McCain is finally learning how to get his message out.
Last week, presumptive President Barack Obama penned an editorial in the New York Times outlining his new plan for Iraq. Obama's new plan involved setting a timetable for the withdrawal of American troops and putting pressure on the Iraqi government to make progress toward political unity. This was very different from his previous stated positions on Iraq, which involved setting a timetable for the withdrawal of American Troops and putting pressure on the Iraqi government to make progress toward political unity.
Here's where McCain showed a hitherto unseen degree of media savvy. He submitted a rebuttal editorial to the Times. The thing is, the rebuttal editorial contained some pretty pointed criticism of Obama, and the Times refused to print it. As a result, instead of being buried in the back pages of a dinosaur newspaper it got top billing on The Drudge Report, which is seen by over 17 million people per day, none of whom are going there looking for a crossword puzzle or book reviews.
I have to admit I'm pleased by this development. The main reason for a Republican like John McCain to betray conservatives is to be a media darling. If McCain is starting to figure out how the media works, he may also start to question some of his dumber policy initiatives.
Okay, it's possible that this was just dumb luck on McCain's part, but I can dream, can't I?
Respectfully submitted,
