Confused Americans for Truth - A Whole Day of Journalists Going Nuts and We End Up With Biden

by Ferdinand T Cat

I'll say this for Senator Obama: he may have trouble answering questions about abortion, but he knows how to hold the attention of the mainstream press. Every 30 minutes for an entire day the top news story was that Barack hadn't yet announced his running mate. With all that build-up, there is only one possible candidate that could have been worth the anticipation. Tragically, instead of me, Obama picked Delaware Senator Joe Biden.

Biden has been in the Senate since Obama was approximately 11 years old, and he brings to the Obama campaign some much-needed gravitas. (Be sure to use that word gravitas frequently when you talk to your liberal friends about this. I guarantee they'll appreciate it.) Biden also provides valuable foreign policy experience at a time when foreign affairs are becoming more complicated: Biden has been pursuing his own foreign policy for years.

Another and perhaps more important advantage is that Biden, like McCain, is an old white guy. People who watch the TV debates are going to see Obama stammering around a straight answer while an old white guy calmly responds to each point. When it's time to vote, they may think that the guy who knew what he was doing during the debates is the same guy who's on all the billboards as Obama's running mate. (You may think I'm poking fun, but keep in mind that Democrats actually think voters can be fooled by this sort of thing.)

And now, a personal note.

Next week, there is going to be a grand orgy of self-congratulation as the Democrats and their media allies contemplate how wonderful they are for nominating an African-American candidate. It's going to be very much like that episode of South Park where the town was nearly wiped out by a giant cloud of Smug.

And I'm not going to be able to help you through it.

See, last Monday the people in charge of Bruce's project decided they would publish his new version of the web site even if it wasn't ready. There is a good reason for this: in Bruce's mind it will never be perfect, so you have to forge ahead regardless of how he feels. Since then, he's been spending every waking moment fixing problem reports. Because the two of us share the same computer, while he's working I can't blog.

I have mixed feelings about this. As a superior life form, it upsets me that my needs have been moved into second place. On the other hand, as a taxpayer, I'm delighted that the Department of Energy has come up with a way to get twice as many hours out of Bruce without increasing his pay. If you want to know how he's doing, just go to http://www.nmpdr.org and click around. If you see a red icon in your browser address bar instead of a gray one, it means the emergency is still ongoing.

Be carefuly, though. Every time you see an error message on that site, it generates a problem report in Bruce's EMAIL inbox.

Respectfully submitted,

Ferdinand T. Cat

OMG! You never told your pet was a genius! ;)

Nice post. You do know the real reason why you were not selected to be Obama's VP, don't you? You are above his pay grade. ;)
