Adventures with Bruce - Stimulating the Economy with the Undercover Mouse

by Ferdinand T Cat

Some time ago I told you all about a cat toy called the Undercover Mouse, and how much Lucky enjoyed playing with it. In fact, Lucky enjoyed playing with it so much that Bruce worried the little guy would exhaust himself or break something. It turns out that he did break something: he broke the Undercover Mouse.

This should not have been a surprise. I have often felt that if a space alien were to visit our home, he would quickly conclude that it is a human tradition to yell Lucky! Bad Cat! whenever an something breaks. See, all cats like to explore, but we quickly learn that knocking things off of shelves leads to loud noises, and we don't like loud noises. Unfortunately, Lucky's boundless courage prevents him from learning this important lesson, and it was only a matter of time before he tried to get his favorite toy down off the shelf without any help from the pet humans.

The Gremlin tried to fix the thing with super glue, but it wasn't strong enough to withstand the force of a full-strength cat pounce, so Lucky broke it again after a few hours. Bruce then came up with the idea of asking Congress to pass a new law requiring all cat toys to be built out of tempered steel. This would insure that any cat toy we bought would be able to withstand Lucky's vigorous affections, and it would stimulate the economy by creating more uses for American steel.

While Bruce was explaining the manifest benefits of his scheme, Barb Gigamaster put an end to the whole idea by wrapping the connecting rod in duct tape, rendering it unbreakable. Lucky spent the rest of the afternoon playing with his newly-repaired toy, and he think Barb is the coolest thing ever.

I think there's a lesson in there somewhere.

Respectfully submitted,

So the moral of the story here is that to fix what is wrong in this country we have to wrap Congress in duct tape?
