Confused Americans for Truth - Wanting Obama to Fail
Rush Limbaugh continues to take heat for his statement that he hopes Barack Obama fails to pass his agenda. The latest salvo comes from ABC correspondent Diane Sawyer in an interview with John McCain. The irony of that particular venue is that Rush opposes John McCain's agenda, too.
But it's important to remember that by opposing Obama's policies, we are not opposing Obama himself. Back in 1993, Republicans successfully blocked Bill Clinton's 1993 stimulus plan, and Clinton is generally perceived to have been good for the economy. If we can derail the Obama economic plan, the hope is that Barack Obama, too, will be able to look upon his years in office from the perspective of a rosy economic glow.
See, the truth is that Obama's stimulus plan makes no sense. Rush Limbaugh doesn't hope Obama's policies will fail, he knows it with iron certainty. The truly hypocritcal approach would be to hope the economy tanks so that the Republicans get swept back in to office. Alas, conservatives cannot afford to think that way, because we're supposed to be about principles and not power.
So, yes, like Rush, I hope Obama's agenda doesn't happen. As far as I'm concerned, it's the only way the Obama Presidency can succeed.
Respectfully submitted,
